Speaker- Fraser Mendel, Of Counsel, Morrison & Foerster. Since 1998 Mr. Mendel has represented companies engaged in the China market with a particular focus on companies in technology industries. His Cleantech practice has included advising on carbon trading agreements, biofuel research programs, low-energy construction projects, advice on China's environmental legislation including China RoHS/WEEE and recycling, and advising companies developing sustainable building projects. Mr. Mendel received both his J.D. from the School of Law and his M.A. in International Studies (China) from the University of Washington in 1994 and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1996.
Speaker- Don Ye, Managing Partner of Tsing Capital, the first Cleantech Capital management firm in China with a serial of China Environment Funds (www.cefund.com) under management. Don Ye founded the firm in 2001, as well as China Environment Fund 2002 and China Environment Fund 2004, which have become the first and most prominent cleantech funds in China. In China, Mr. Ye was selected as 2002 ¡°the Most Active Venture Capitalist¡±, 2003 ¡°Top Ten Best Venture Capitalists¡± in China, 2003 ¡°China New Economy People 100¡±, 2004 ¡°China Environment People¡± nominee, as well as 2005 ¡°Pioneer Award¡± by Cleantech Venture Forum. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China.
Speaker- Daniel Qiu, Executive Director, Morgan Stanley. Mr. Qiu is responsible for originating and executing capital markets , M&A and principal transactions in the energy and utilities space, with a focus on clean and renewable energy related sectors. He has helped Chinese clients to raise overseas capital to fund or expand alternative energy businesses, including wind, hydro, solar, biomass, biofuel, CBM, DME, energy efficiency, etc. Mr. Qiu holds an MBA degree from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics
Moderator- James Mahoney, China Country Director for the Cleantech Group. Mr. Mahoney has been based in China for 12 years. For the past three years, he has directed market research, strategy, target due diligence, channel sales, and local procurement - all for western investors or providers of industrial equipment and management services participating in China's agriculture, waste and wastewater treatment, and coal chain and power sectors. Mr. Mahoney holds an MBA degree from Rutgers University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Guelph (Canada).
